WALT: Create and advertisement persuading people to go to the Special Olympics here in Palmerston North. I used MS Publisher to create this poster. To make my poster stand out and grab the readers attention I had to make everything as bold as it would go. I found making it stand out challenging because whatever I tried to make it stand out it just wouldn't work. Something I enjoyed was being creative with it because it really showed out our creative side but on the computer. Something interesting I learnt about advertising was that everything has to get to the point in as few words as can be.

WALT: follow an inquiry process and present out inquiry learning about the Special Olympics using MS Movie maker.Before making this movie, I looked over the feedback I received last term for my movie about China. Some of the things I took into consideration and tried to improve on when making this movie were making my voice loud and clear. Something interesting I have learnt about the Special Olympics during this inquiry is that there are 10 games in the Special Olympics.A challenge I found in this inquiry was all the filming because Ifound it hard to remember all my lines.I overcame this challenge by practicing my lines and eventually I remembered them.

St James Athletics day

Last week on Friday the 13Th of November we had our St James school Athletics at the Massey Track. A highlight for me was being Abel to do athletics on a proper track. Something I found challenging was the hurdles were bigger than I thought. Enjoy!

WALT:Follow an inquiry process. This term we have been learning about China, we have continued building on the inquiry skills we have leart in term 2. We brainstormed open quesions as a class and then delegated these out to pairs. The part of China Joseph and I were finding out more about was Chinas and there famous landmarks. We found our information on the internet and from books. We used a data chart to make sure we triangulated all our information so we knew it was true. We then used movie maker to present our inquiry. Something I enjoyed was making the movie becuase I got to learn how to use Movie Maker. An interesting fact I found out was that the TOME OF TERROCOTA is the most popular and famous landmark in china . My next learning step in inquiry is to be more focased to awnser my qustons.

CINDYS DADS VISIT

Last week Cindys Dad came to share with us all about how chinese write and eat.He gave us moon cake because he wanted us to try new food.An interesting fact I learnt was that CHINESE writing is just like symbols.I really enjoyed the part when we got to eat part of the moon cakes because it was soo nice and tasted different.

How are Cultures and Traditions Expressed through dance

During Week 1,we had a variety of learning experiences to tune us into ideas about our new big question for this term - how are cultures and traditions expressed through dance? we had a performance from the Boys High Pacifica group, a performance from St Peters Pacifica group and a Drumming workshop. I enjoyed the Boys Hight performance the most because they had a variety of songs. Something new I learnt was that St Peters and Boy Hight have a pacifica group.

WALT: Recognise how StJames lived a life follwing Jesus andspreading the good news.

Our school is named St James because a man called James helped build our school. St James showed he follwed Jesus because he got his head chopped off for spreading the good news about Jesus. An interesting fact about St James is that he was one of the fist deciples to die for spreading the good news about Jesus

WALT: present the information I have learnt during my inquiry simply and clearly so that others can gain the most inportant information from my presentation.
This voicethread explains what I have learnt during my iquiry on the Tui Bird. Something I think I did really well during this inquiry process was finding out information on the Tui because I used many different ways to find information. Next time I do an inquiry something I could inprove in is learning about a different animal because otherwise I will be learning the same things. The part I liked best about doing an iquiry was making a creative way to desplay it becasue it was fun choosing how to desplay it.
